What our users want to know

As a user, is there any charge for using TallyWish?

No. TallyWish is free for users. You can create as many wishlists with as many items as you want. Our users do not pay for their TallyWish accounts. If you're wondering how we make money - we charge stores who want to add premium TallyWish services directly on their website in addition to paying for access to post unique messages and content to their TallyWish storefronts.

Is there a limit to the number of items I can have in my wishlist?

No, there are no limits on the number of items on your wishlists. In addition, you can create as many separate wishlists as you would like.

For example, you may create a wishlist for yourself and then create a wishlist for each of the members of your family whenever you discover something that they might like. Get creative and organize in whatever way works for you.

Can I make my wishlist private?

Yes, you have the option to make any wishlist private or public. You have the privacy option when you are creating a new wishlist or you can browse through your account to your wishlists page and edit an existing wishlist to change the privacy option.

The default privacy option for wishlists is "Public".

Any wishlist you have marked as "Private" will show with a locked icon. For more detail on what "Private" wishlists means review the following question.

What does a private wishlist mean?

A private wishlist is entirely private. Other users will not know that you have created a private wishlist or that the list even exists.

With a private list, the items contained in the list cannot be viewed by any other members. So, making a list private means that both the list ("My Christmas List") and the items contained on the wishlist can only be viewed by your account.

Any item you add to a private list is automatically set to private - in that way both the items and the list itself it completely private to only your account.

In addition to the privacy of the items contained in the list, the name of the list is private as well.

If the list was previously public and the wishlist was "public" - the wishlist will still be hidden if the privacy setting is changed.

If you decide that you want the list to be a public list, the items in that wishlist will also become public items unless you have opted to change the items to be private as well.

How can I share my wishlist with my friends?

Every wishlist has a unique link or URL. Simply grab that link and send it to friends in an e-mail or post on the social network of your choice.

To find the URL for a list, simply go to the Wishlists page from My Account after you have successfully logged into your account. You will see the "Wishlist Link" field containing the unique URL.

In addition, we're working hard at integrating TallyWish into a number of social networks which will allow you to notify your friends that you have added new items to your wishlists, have created new wishlists or marked items as favorites. All the notifications to social networks will be completely optional.

Why would I want to have a private wishlist?

There might be a number of reasons why you might want to hide a wishlist from public view on list.

If you're adding items to a wishlist that you might give to someone as a birthday gift or for a holiday, you might not want them to know ahead of time that you're shopping for them. Remember that your friends and family can view your public wishlists.

Secondly, if you are shopping for personally sensitive items or, for example, don't want your co-workers to know that you're spending your time in the office wish-listing some sweet new clothes, the privacy option gives you the ability to designate lists as private while maintaining other public lists.

Finally, maybe you're just a private person. Nothing wrong with that.

Can stores and merchants see my entire wishlist?

No. Stores only know that a specific user has added their item to their wishlist if there is no privacy turned on. The store does not have any more information about what other items have been added beyond what another user would know. In other words, stores can only see what other users can see.

If you mark an item as "private", a store will know that a user added one of their items to a wishlist but they will not know it was you.

Can I add a personal note when I add an item to my wishlist?

Yes, and those personal notes are 100% private. In fact, there is no option for those notes to be made public just to be safe. You can add notes when you initially add the item to your wishlist or you can go back at any time and add new notes or make edits to an existing wishlist item.

Why would I need a personal note on a wishlist item?

There are many uses for the personal note feature.

  1. Something about item if it's a gift when you order it. "Bob loves the yellow color or blue"
  2. Message about how you heard about the product. "Heard about this on the morning radio show".
  3. Apply a note for the family or friend you want to tell about this product.

Will stores know that I have added an item to my wishlist?

Yes, stores know that you added one of their items unless you have marked it as private.

The private option prohibits a store from knowing which user have added the item to their wishlist. The store will know that the item was added, but not which user has added it.

Why would I want to mark a store or brand as a favorite? Why do I want to mark stores as favorites?

TallyWish allows you to mark any store as a "Favorite". Using the "Favorite" feature is a great way to remember those stores where you love shopping.

But the favorite feature also lets you connect wit those favorite stores. By marking a store a "Favorite" whenever that store posts messages to it's page, you can be notified. Stores use their message boards to post news about product launches, new discounts and private offers. Stores have the option to post messages to only TallyWish users who have marked the store as a favorite.

Finally, when you view your Favorite Store list, you have the option to use the "Also Shop" list. We comb through all the users who have the same store marked as a favorite as you and recommend additional stores that might want to check out. It's a great way to discover and start shopping new favorite stores.

Keep in mind that you can opt out of store messaging at any point or resubscribe. To keep track of the stores that you have marked as "Favorites", go to the Favorites page from My Account

How do I mark a store or brand as a favorite?

You will see that there are links to store profile pages with each item listed across TallyWish. From those profile pages, you can click on the "Favorite" icon and mark the store as a favorite.

In addition, when you are adding an item to your wishlists, you have the option to mark the store as a favorite when you are complete.

When you want to manage your existing favorites, go to the Favorites page from My Account and you can update or edit your store favorites.

Can I turn off messaging from a particular store?

Absolutely, there are two options available to stop messaging from a particular store.

  1. You can always remove and edit your "Favorite" status on a store at any point. Note - you can also add it back later if you change your mind.
  2. In every message you receive you have the option to "Unsubscribe from this Store" which means that you can keep the "Favorite" status with the store but any messaging from the store will no longer be broadcast to you.

To manage your existing favorites, go to the Favorites page from My Account and you can update or edit your store favorites.

Is my personal information shared with stores?

No, TallyWish does not sell, rent, lease or anything else your personal information with any of our member stores. In fact, we believe that using TallyWish as a way to subscribe to messaging, offers and promotions from your favorite stores and creating a wishlist on TallyWish is better and more secure than subscribing directly to stores across the web.

TallyWish keeps all of your wishlists in one place. Allowing you to only create accounts at stores when you are truly ready to buy.

Can stores see my personal information?

No, stores cannot see any information beyond what it already publicly shared on TallyWish.

For example, if you have added a store item to your wishlist and marked that item as private that store will not know it was you who added the item to your list.

Can my friends see my entire wishlist?

Yes, by default wishlists and items you add to your wishlists are public. If you decide you would like to make any wishlist private, you can go to the Wishlists page from My Account and select "Private" from the Privacy Options field.

How can I share my wishlist?

Go to the Wishlists page from My Account.

Firstly, you need to make sure that the wishlist you want to share is marked as "Public". and select "Private" from the Privacy Options field.

After checking on the sharing option, you can copy the link from the URL / Link field and use that on any social network or via e-mail.

Can I make some wishlists private?

Yes, from the Wishlists page under My Account. Select the wishlist you would like to edit and change the "Sharing" option from "Public" to "Private".

Can I create multiple wishlists?

Yes, each time you add a new item to your wishlist, you have the option to select which wishlist you would like to add it to or click on the option to "Create New Wishlist" to create a new wishlist for that item.

Afterwards, you can go to the Wishlists from My Account and update wishlists, change names, privacy options and more.

Can I delete wishlists?

Absolutely, from the Wishlists page within My Account, you can click to edit any of your existing wishlists. From the edit screen, click on the "Delete" option and you will be asked to confirm your deletion.

Can I delete favorite stores? How do I remove a favorite store?

Yes! Go to the Favorites page from My Account and click on the "Delete" option next to the store that you want to edit. After clicking on the "Delete" option, you will be asked to confirm the deletion.

Do I have a public TallyWish web address or URL?

Yes, your account has a public URL / web address.

Your profile web address is:

http://www.tallywish.com/profile/*your user name*

You can provide the link to your family and friends. In addition, other users browsing TallyWish will be able to discover your profile. Whatever content you have chosen to make public will be available on your public profile.

Can I search for stores?

Yes. When you log into your account, you can go directly to the stores menu page at http://www.tallywish.com/stores/ and search for your favorite stores. From the search results, you can directly browse to any store.

Each web store url has a unique web address based on their domain name. For example, Gap Stores link on TallyWish is http://www.tallywish.com/store/www.gap.com/

What if a store hasn't signed up for TallyWish Storefront?

For you, as a TallyWish user, nothing changes. You can still add items from that store to your wishlist or mark the store as a favorite.

If the store has not signed up as a TallyWish Storefront, the store will not be able to deliver messages to it's Storefront or deliver promotions and other offers to users who have marked it as a favorite.

What browser extensions are available?

We have two browser extensions available for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. The browser extensions allow you to add any item from the web to your wishlist.

Install the extensions to your browser today - we think they're pretty great.

How do I install the browser extensions?

Visit the downloads page, and select the appropriate version for the browser version you're using. We're currently supporting Firefox and Google Chrome.

Click on the link to download the extension install file. After the file has completed, double click on the icon from folder where you downloaded the file.

You should follow the process in your browser to install and launch the extension.
